Is there a setting in NX 7.5 to force dialog boxes to show up completely open when picking a command ? I'd want dialog boxes to show up with all options already visible.

Right now I have to click on the arrow near each option to open it and this make my workflow quite slow.

Thank you

If the setting is the same as in NX7 then you should open them once and the next time they will be open when the save layout on exit is enabled in customer defaults.

You can find this in customer defaults, gateway - user interface - general tab - Save Dialog box settings between sessions, be aware that this also aplies to the distance of an extrusion or revolve for example.

Thanks, it works.

Anyway picking the command and opening all the options is not enough. You need to successfully apply the command to have the dialog box saved.

Actually, if you set the following variable...

UGII_UIFW_SAVE_MEMORY_ON_CANCEL=ON

...all it will take for the vast majority of dialogs is to simply open them set what you want and then hit the 'Cancel' button for dialog memory to capture the settings. I personally lobbyied to get this option added to NX since many times you get all set to do something and then realize that you needed to do something else and this way you can at least grab whatever settings you had already made for the next time you open the dialog. We are still debating on whether to make this either the new default behavior or put an option in Customer Defaults to control this. Anyway, give a try and please let me know what you think of this idea in general as we're still debating the pro's and con's.

John,

where do i have to put this variable, in systems variable or env.dat?

Off topic,

do you have a clear instruction manual/ description on how to handle the new template structure of NX6, i've been struggling with the pax files for a couple of days but cant figure out which one is overruling the other one. Meaning we have our own model and drafting templates, which are part files, imported them in the NX Template folder in TC, adapt the pax files, it works, but sometimes NX is still looking at the UGII\Templates folder on the local disk, is customer defaults overruling my templates or what else do i need to check so it will be site wide implemented?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Michäël.

I put the variable in a batch file that I use to start NX and
to set all the required variables. It works.

Micky,

I simply copied the standard PAX files into my 'startup' folder and then modified it to suit my requirements, pointing it to my template files.

PLEASE just make them fully open! NX6 is driving me nuts with uncompleted tasks.

Sorry, but some dialogs are so long that if ALL the sections were open it would run off the bottom of the screen. Dialog memory will remember what sections you had open the last time you used the dialog. I can't believe that that your workflow requires that you have EVERY section of EVERY dialog fully expanded at all times. It's just not rational.

Yes, dialog memory remember what sections were open, that works.

Anyway I think that the actual interface has excessive cosmetics and dialogs take too much space on the screen. The old NX4 dialogs could show all the same parameters in a much smaller space !
