iwould like to calculate the diameter of the air core in hydrocyclones by taking its photograph using high speed digital camera from aperspesx model. But i am told that the diameter thus obtained may not be the true diameter due to refraction of the lighgt rays from water and perspex. Any idea how this can be done

Hi Sripriyarajendran

if you precalibrate your transparent cyclone by filling it with water, and taking photos of known dimensions within the cyclone, you will be able to correct for any refractive effects during operation.

Cheers

Steve

Standard, properly operated hydrocyclones don't have an "air core." They are completely liquid filled. Any air present at start up is quickly swept up in the overhead.
