I have a wood diaphragm that looks like the one shown above. I just like to ask if what is the best simpson connector to connect the double toplate at the "+" portion.
The double top plate is acting as the chord for wind and earthquake along N - S direction and also carry a drag force for wind and earthquake along E - S. 1,2,A & B represents shearwall lines

I have additional questions of my post above. What are forces and connection details to consider in the champered portion. Is it better to place a shearwall on that portion? (inclined line based on the drawing above).

I would suggest calling Simpson's Technical Services Dept. and faxing them your sketch. They should be able to answer the connection question.

Simpson does have a free connector selection software program. You input the various loadings and the connectors that satisfy the loads are listed in assending order of cost. It's pretty handy for the common loading conditions. Once you make your slection, the software allows you to print out a summary of the connectors for the job and a product data sheet for each. Just a thought!
