HI
i need help regarding diaphragm pumps without external flexible coupling i want to know whats the problems that coming with this type of pump regarding maintenance and exploitation thank you

If the application is chemical dosing, then a diapragm pump has a shorter expected life than a peristaltic pump. The advantage is that diaphragm pumps are much less expensive. We'll usually specify that spare pumps be provided and put in storage; this compensates for the reduced reliability.

Diaphragm pumps are going to require a relatively high amount of maintenance and are typically quite loud. I don't know what flows and pressures you need to achieve, but diaphragm pumps are typically only good for lower flows and pressures.

Hi,
(1) Diaphragm pumps can be with or without external couplings. In that case, rigid couplings are used and alignment is critical.
Further, flange motors (vertical) are usually used for such pumps. In case of flanged motor driven equipment, motors need to be dislodged first before pump can be overhauled. Implying sequential maintenance.

(2) Main problem with diaphram pumps are the check valves installed at suction and discharge ports for each pump head. These valves receives a lot of wear and tear and hence stock availability for these during maintenance has to be ensured.

(3) Hydraulic fluids responsible for diaphragm actuation needs to be checked for adequate quantity and service compatibility.
