Dielectric VS. Insulation Resistance Test 3

What is difference between Dielectric and Insulation Test

I just confused about it, since I'm not sure what the purpose is

I see that Insulation test is tested to cable for measuring Resistance, the value shall comply with IEC 60439-1 for ex. supply 500Vdc, the test is satisfactory if the insulation is at least 1000 Ohm/V per circuits.

but I'm not sure about Dielectric test whether it is different from insulation test.

And What is exactly purpose of both.

Are you talking about a D/A (dielectic absorption) test? That's part of the insulation testing proceedure. Also PI polarization index.

The dielectric test is a hi-pot test (ac or dc) to check the strength of the insulation to withstand the rated voltage and occasional surge voltages.

Insulation resistance test (aka meggering) is to check the general condition of the cables and other electrical machines to see if they are wet, contaminated etc. It does not indicate the strength of the insulation, only its condition, like taking your body temperature.
