HI all,

Can anyone tell me the difference between SA 387 Gr.11 CL1 and Cl.2 material and their usage in pressure vessel design

Class 2 plates will have a higher minimum tensile and yield than the Class 1 plates. If you can get a copy of the SA-387 spec, you will see.

I believe that the Class 2 plates will therefore have higher stress values that can be used in the design calculations. This can be verified in Section II, Part D, I don't have a copy of that handy.

Yes, higher allowable stress values apply for Class 2.
