difference between auto cad solid modeling and microstation 1

Hello folks,

I'd like to know about difference between autocad solid modeling and microstation software tool.

I hope to hear your response it even though it is a basic question.

MicroStation is another software.
It doesn't sit on AutoCAD.
Examples would like "Architectural Desktop"; Land Desk Development"; "Pro-E"; "Accu-render" ...etc.. ALL these require AutoCAD to run.
And MicroStation, too, has its 3rd party softwares, as well.

But if you're comparing the 2 without "ADD-ON" (3rd party) tools ... just straight out of the box ... then I'd say MicroStation has better 3D tools over AutoCAD ... for modeling. Although the lighting tools seem to be better in AutoCAD. And it's the only thing (in my opinion) that AutoCAD has over MicroStation for 3D. The 3D tools in MircoStation are so user friendly and powerful.

Only those who've used BOTH to their limits will agree.
So before anyone jumps on me ... first learn both softwares before jumping on my back...

To really effectively learn AutoCAD 3D or 2D ...
I really believe the best combination is "On the job training from a Vetran user" & "A Vocational school/ formal classes".

These 2 elements are the best way.
But not everyone has these options.

So school and these "Chat boards" would be your best source.

As for PDS ...
PDS is MicroStation base. There is NO AutoCAD version.
And agian ...
MicroStation is totally DIFFERENT SOFTWARE.
So if you're interested in "plant design" ... PDS would be a good choice. But it ain't AutoCAD.

to see what AutoCAD offers for "plant design" ... I'm not sure of the name.

But I'm sure AutoCAD has it's package for "plant design".

Bentley's MicroStation isn't the only one that does "plant design".
