To all,

Could someone please tell me what the difference is between C-900 and C-905 other than size. I am told that C-905 has a smaller safety factor designed into it since the C-905 is designed for larger transmissions mains where there is less surge pressure spikes.

thanks,

Actually a few years ago the design of the smaller C900 pipe was liberalized to come up with a pressure rating for the various DR pipes quite similar to that of C905, and for that matter also the thinner SDR pipes of ASTM D2241 decades ago. There is much more history and detail at - not sure there is any logical explanation.
