Hello all, I'm new to sap and was wondering what constraints I would need for my floor system which consisted of one way slabs and beams. I am designing a 5 story building for my design class and not sure if I need diaphragm or body restraints? I was thinking of using a diaphragm constraint but would I constrain just the perimeter joints? Thanks

Select the 4 joints in the perimeter of the slab and assign diaphragm. If however you are interested in modelling the slab (because you mentioned one-way) perhaps you should do this in etabs or safe, the other csi software which have additional tools for slabs.

aadvi5,

Note, if you are designing steel structure, Diaphragm constraint eliminate axial forces in the slabs and beams; for concrete that might be O.K. for steel is not.
