A Functional Configuration is the sum total or the specification standards of an audit implemented to provide a comparison of specification and spec requirements with the results of inspections or other analysis by testing or examination. It is part of the verification process to ensure a product design requirement is met and that that guideline or standard is documented and verifiable before base-lining. Configuration parameters for the audits are included in Service agreements and contracts proposals and may be considered part of a performance and security management with correlation and compliance attachments as a result. Most basic to the functional configuration process is the clearances, and support and other accommodations that are given by the target site. Besides assurance and specifications, Quality Assurance, Reliability, systems acquisition all ties in nominally. Factors such as complexity and criticality, traceability matrix, and size and scope will often precursor the demand and prioritization of an FC audit. The actual config report will be a proposed state to be supplied such as Interface Requirements Documents, test reports, as well as past modifications. With government and enterprise alike Independent Validation and Verification, certifications Program Technical Reports, Hardware Discrepancy Reports, and lists of outstanding changes are intrinsic to the primary configuration template. Note that a Physical Configuration Audit is accommodated for perusal at the same time as the planning for the Functional Configuration Audit. Upon completion full validation and reporting must follow protocol and be transparent.

Technical Configuration will be the resolution of the technical environment that houses and supports the operational structure and technical service as well as the business systems support to include System Landscape to support project requirements for developing, testing, and operational functions of the solutions. Set ups of the client environment to project standards development for testing, and training includes Globalization and synchronization of multiple languages, time zones, and other global factors in the system, depending on your needs. Site configuration and operational services configuration deal with the technicality of data and element manager rosters and log template. For example System settings ensure the appropriate level of business continuity to user desktops in order to access a portal with full interconnectivity. As well, but not totally, input/output management involves the configured systems, net objects, nodes and devices for connection

I hope this brief detailing makes the broad subject matter easily containable for your uses.
