Different Disgn & Inspection Codes

Dear All,

Our client is requested us to design the Grid of heater based on ASME VIII Div2 App.4, but also mentioned that fabrication of Grid components and inspection of Grid shall be in accordance with ASME VIII Div1.Let me know its normal practice?and why did not consider Div2 for fabrication and inspection.

You didn't give much details so I have to guess at what you got. I don't know what you mean by the grid of a heater is but what your client is expecting is he wants a detail stress analysis done on the shell and supports for your grid, and you are to "reference" Div2, appendix 4 to categorize the different stress values. I assume it must be a Div 1 vessel so naturally it has to be designed and fab per Div. 1.

When in doubt, ask your client directly for clarification. Don't second guess a Client's requirement.
