When designing a continuous run of beams, 1 beam is required to be (for example) 18 inches wider than the other beams in that same continuous run of beams. What is the common procedure for detailing the negative moment at each end of the wider beam.
-Make .25 of the length of the beams on either side of the wider beam the width of the wider beam?
-Run the negative reinforcing (top steel) into the slab on either side of the wider beam (where the steel can't run into the adjacent beam)?
-Some other solution.
Thanks a lot.
