Howdy all,

So I have a dimension that is reading wrong because I can't pick up the virtual sharp. The probelm is the angle on the inside of the radius is very obtuse, close to 175°. If I change the dimension to 135° I can pick up the sharp and then change it back with no problem to get the correct dimension, but this solution will not work for a real drawing, because changing that dimension would break everything. Is there a way to pick up the virtual sharp on a very obtuse angle? I have included a couple of files to suggest the problem.

I also fond the key to creating the virtual sharps from this post:

thread559-123394

Thanks for your help.

Ctrl-click both lines, and then select point from the sketch toolbar. It will create an actual point at the vertex of the intersection, which you can then dimension to.

HTH...

That's what I did as instructed in the thread I referenced, but that does not create a point. It creates a couple of reference lines.

...

O.k. hunting around and clicking randomly I found the point that it inserts. The problem is that the point is not displayed. At least not when I have Witness selected on Tools --> Options --> Document Properties --> Virtal Sharps. Changing this option to Plus or Star make it visible so I can select it.

Thanks for your help and sorry for doubting you.

If the display style of your virtual sharp does not show a visible point, there should still be an imaginary one there that you can select. You may need to use the "selection filter" when you're trying to dimension to it.
