Digital signatures in drawings

Does anyone know if you can put a digital signature inside a drawing in SW2012?
Our company is looking to go to a paperless system.

Maybe with API, not sure.
I used to do it with Adobe Acrobat. Save the drawing as a PDF, then setup the PDF for email/digital signatures.

That was our original thought, save as PDF then sign it.
Just wasn't sure if i was overlooking something.
