Hi there,

I am modelling a short cantilevel RC column under axial compression and lateral load. First I tried ABAQUS/Standard and use smeared cracking model for concrete. But it always terminated during the analysis due to NOT Converge. Does anyone encountered this problem before? How to solve this "convergence problem"?

Another problem is when I turn to ABAQUS/Explicit, I use damage plasticity concrete model for concrete. But I can not find the proper definition for the dilation angle and the value of this angle. I searched all the reference available, some used 15 degree, some used 32 degree, some used 36 degree (in the Concrete Dam Example). I am appreciated that you can give me some information as to the definition of dilation angle and its' value. Also in the damage plasticity concrete model, how it consider the concrete cracking? (seems it is quite different from the smeared cracking model which is easy to understand how cracking is considered)

Thanks a lot! I am appreciated for your help!!!
