I am looking for an SAE equivalent material to USt 36 Din 17111. The product is a rivet for a Volkswagen. Normally we are looking at C1010 but I'd like some sort of confirmation of this.

Grade 1010 according to ASTM F 2282 or SAE J 403 is equivalent in composition to USt 36 (1.0203) according to DIN 17111. The exact composition from this now obsolete standard is as follows:

C = 0.14 max
Mn = 0.20-0.50
Si = trace
P = 0.050 max
S = 0.050 max
