Is there a lower end MCAD package, e.g. Solid Edge, etc..., that can read native version 7 IDEAS model files? As part of a business acquisition my company inherited an archive of legacy IDEAS part files but did not get the IDEAS software.

Any thoughts?

There's a few similar threads on this subject if you search back. In short the answer is no, SDRC and now EDS have never allowed 3rd party software vendors access to their code to create viewers or translators of the native I-DEAS format. So any viewer or translator will require an I-DEAS license.

Suggest you find a company that can translate the data into a format you can use.
