Disappearing Detail View Entities

I'm working on a multi sheet drawing of a weldment and the sheet metal parts it is made of. Sheets 4 & 5 detail 2 parts that are very similar with an Edge-Flange at 35 deg from the Base-Flange. There are feature on the 35 deg Edge-Flange that need dimensioning but, I don't have room for another whole auxiliary view normal to that face. So, I made an aux view normal to the face outside of the sheet boarder and then made a detail view of the area I needed to see on the sheet. Then, I hide the aux view that's off the sheet and leave the detail view visible.

Problem is that every time I save the drawing, the drawing entities in the detail views disappear but, the dimensions stay visible, only on the sheets that are inactive when I save. The entities don't come back until I right click on that view and turn view tangent edges off and on again.

Does anybody know what is going on here? There are several other guys here that have been using SW longer that I have and they are stumpped too. We are using SW2003 on Win2000.

Thanks,
Lloyd

Have someone in your group open your drawing and models, on their machines. Have them do the same things you did. Does it happen again?

If your detail views disappear or get missed placed on a drawing, then try a forced rebuild. Ctrl Q (forced rebuild) and usually everything goes back to normal.

Also check your video card and drivers. You also can change video settings to enable 3d accelerration or not in solidworks.

Instead of creating extra views in order to pull detail views, then hiding the extra view, look into using the Crop View command. It should simplify some of the hassel you are experiencing in trying to document your parts. "The attempt and not the deed confounds us."

I've been using SW2001+ on windows2000 for 7 months now. I have this problem too. The only way I've found around this, is to edit the sketch (detail circle) then rebuild.
