Hi,

I am running an explicit simulation of a rigid sphere hitting a deformable target. Even though I have prescribed a predefined velocity field to the sphere, it does not move at all during the simulation.

Model work flow,

Import target assembly
Create sphere geometry -> mesh -> assign reference point -> assign inertia/mass -> create geometry based set
Place sphere into assembly
Set up explicit step
Assign predefined velocity to sphere via geometry based set
Run
......

No kinetic energy at any increment hence no movement.

Have I over constrained the rigid sphere somehow?

Any clues anyone?

Hi,

Please check does the velocity is applied to the rigid body reference node.

That was it!

I checked in the *.inp file and it wasnt selecting the RP!

Thanks, you have saved my weekend :D
