Hello. We need to select replacement high strength disk springs that will survive in a marine environment. Periodic immersion will be an issue, and, to make things more complicated, we have learned that a nearby turbine exhaust emits sulphur compounds, which also appear to be problematic.
Can anyone suggest any alloys that might be worth looking into? We know from experience that 17-7 will not be suitable. It requires a hard temper to function as a spring, and this makes it vulnerable to SCC, and, as we have learned, to sulphur as well.
Any suggestions for good places to start looking for more info? I know some Inconel products are reasonably available, but have no experience with them.
Thanks in advance for any help.
