have you or did you ever heard of any damage to foundations caused by dispersive clays not including dams and levees ? I watched a clay completely disperse in water and only the sandy particles were left behind , the soil layer i am referring to was made of marly clayey shale with some sands . After the dispersion , it was impossible to conduct atterberg limits or shear tests because the soil lost its structures .
We are studying a small lobby facility building for an electrical company , the soil is composed of fill (1m) then marly clayey shale with sands for about 6 m then sandstone where we found the water level
