Hi structural engineers,

I have a uni project to determine structural behaviors on high-rise buildings using SPACEGASS and Strand7 software. I have modeled in both software using the same section properties, same geometry and same restraints. FYI, the building is subjected to have torque.

The results shows the displacement in Z direction in both software is similar, but only in X direction (which is subjected to have torque) shows different displacement value.

Any suggestions? Really appreciate your help.

You would need to provide a lot more information than that to get many good responses.

My broken-record advice always applies though: Develop a smaller and simpler model for which you can manually calculate the results. Test the programs with that until you understand what they're doing. I would literally start with a model with one member, and work my way up.

How do they calc J, is it similar?. I would suggest a simplistic J calc is used by 1, the other wouldn't need it.

Also depending on what your doing, we could have a wood armer issue.... The list is long.
