I am working on a project where a retaining wall is composed of steel piles of ASTM A690 Mariner Grade. The tie rods are of G350 mild steel.
It would be unlikely that there would be significant potential differences between de different steels. However, I heard that if the piles have mill scale attached, there could be some problems.( area ratio anodic vs cathodic)
Is there any potential difference between marine and non marine grade steel?
Does mill scale contribute to potential differentials that might increase corrosion rates?
Thank you for your answer and advices.
