Is it possible to dissolve an assembly that is within another assembly? Also, kinda the opposite of dissolving, is it possible to add parts to an assembly that are already present within the main assembly?

With solidworks, i could either use the disolve command, or just drag the parts out of the sub assembly, and into the main assembly, and vise-versa

thanks

Matthew

Its useful because i will sometimes find people making sub assemblys where all those subs need to be disolved to make just one assembly.

Right Mouse Button on the parts/assembly.
Hold your cursor over Component.
Select Promote or Demote.

Sometimes it makes sense to have subassemblies for construction purposes that are not needed in the BOM structure. If you open the BOM and change the BOM Structure from default to phantom, this will cause the subassembly not to show up in the parts list but instead the subassembly's constituent parts will be visible.

Look up Bill Of Materials in the help or go here:
for a better explaination.

What if i wanted to keep them in there subs. Could i have one BOM generated from the misc parts, and subs?

that promote/demote function worked great!

thanks a million
