should reboiler operating pressure be higher than condenser operating pressure in a distillation column?

..., since vapour flows from higher pressure to lower pressure and you want to have vapour flowing from the reboiler to the condensor (don't you?).

It is so obvious that it prompts me to ask romano123 what is the real subject behind that question. Is it perhaps the partial pressure of some particular component in the vapors that is of interest and not the total pressure ? [smile]

Romano123,

Best way to check pressure drops -- Two guages A and B.

Place A and B in process, Guages must be in vertical orientation, have someone read B while you read A. Record observations.

Switch A to B and B to A. Repeat readings.

Now average differential pressure readings.... You have eliminated guage offset and time lapse from moving single guage. It works, is a pain, but it does work.
