Hello,
one of our clients wants to start a project for 2-propanol separation. I have developed a flowsheet for the process (I have attached the flowsheet). The product purity is very important as it is to be used in semi-conductor (product purity=99.99 wt%). I realized from simulation (dynamic) that there is impurity build-up after 5 days (tentative) which affects the purity.

Quick thinking to solve the problem would be:

Stop the operation of 2nd distillation column (referring to flowsheet) after 5 days followed by cleaning and then re-operate. (The column is packed column)

Is it a silly solution? Is it industrially practical to shut-down and re-operate weekly? Though I am a process engineer, I am new to the industry.
