Hi Everyone, does anyone know if there is an acceptance criteria/tolerance for the amount of ditortion one can allow? How would I measure the effects of a heavily distorted branch weld? Does ASME B31.3 or ASME IX address this at all?

None that I know of, other than the usual tolerances for ovality, weld peaking, etc. I think you would need to apply 'engineering judgment' to determine if the function of a component may be compromised.
