I'm a recently qualied engineering graduate. I quite knowledgeable with plc's but would want to move into the world of DCS. Where can i start...i've been searching for example programs on the net but couldn't find any.Have seen a little bit of the deltaV on the emmerson site.

Look into IEC 61499 more and more PLC manufacturers will be moving towards using this standartd, knowing about it will therefore be a valuable skill in a few years

Check out Foxboro's I/A system: it's getting a little long in the tooth in my opinion but a very capable system in its day and still good by modern standards. Also don't overlook Emerson's Ovation platform: Emerson are in the odd position of having two very good DCS platforms, one aimed at process & petrochem and the other at power generation. Ovation is very powerful, and has a first class engineering staff in Pittsburgh and Warsaw.
