I am designing a Masonry structure w/ wood trusses. My grade beams are rather large. So I was wanting to reduce the load of my masonry blocks. I know that you can reduce the distributed load of masonry, to a triangle, but not for sure what the parameters are for doing this design. Is there any suggestions or the location in the code, because I'm rather unclear for this design.

Go to "ncma.org". On the left side of the home page is a box relating to accessing TEK notes. Select your state, and it will give you a list of your state masonry suppliers. Click on one with the "TEK Manual", and search for TEK note 17-1b. I think this will give you the information you are looking for.
