Hi,

I am about to learn (and apply) DMU Fitting Simulation.
Could somebody explain me what is the difference between Fitting Simulation and Kinematics?
When Fitting Simulation would be the best option vs Kinematics?
When one of them should be used instead of the other one?

Thanks a lot!

I see Fitting more as a tool to move object for which I define the path (by successive positions), or where CATIA find the path. FIT is for something like an assembly of part: I made a video of the assembly of a jet engine, or of the manikin operating a tool...

I see Kinematics as a tool to get information about trace (a point, line from the solid that is moving : you can define cycloïdes using Kin traces ), about speed, time or anything you can combine with that. Kin is more for an analysis : what is the angle of that part when I push this one that much ?

Both of them could be used for collision / band analysis.

Kin is not as easy to use as you have to manage DOF for each part (for 3DX you can run kin without controlling all DOF, but it might not be bad to close the loop and get all DOF if you can)

Some kin joints do not exist and you will have to combine some joints to get the result you need. You might also have to create parts and geometry to support your Kin.

So 2 different tools, 2 licences, I suggest you check with your VAR which one you need and why.
