Hi,

I have a question with regards to the general use and application of diffused nickel coatings (DNP) for primary corrosion protection subsea. I know some major operators such as Petrobras advocate the use of DNP, but my question is why does this not seem to be the case for other operators and is it actually as any good for immersed subsea applications?

The other operators may still be suffering from the 'legacy barrier' after seeing the poor performance of electroless nickel plating as it fell off items. BP were great proponents of ENP in the 90s, but now they are not so keen on it. As to whether DNP is 'any good,' like all things, the answer is: it depends. It depends upon required performance, value, quality, etc etc.
