Do you put up signage/banner of your company at the construction site?

I have seen contractors, project management/development companies and even designer/architectural firms put up signs of their companies (usually on the fence) at the project site.

Now I am not sure if it serves as a form of advertisement or it's just simply there for exposure and recognition. What I don't see often enough is engineering firms/companies putting up their banners.

Obviously the bulk of our projects are traditionally through bids/proposals requested from our clients. Advertising ourselves won't replace that. However it wouldn't hurt. Right?

If you do already, why?

If you don't already, what stops you and why not?

Many construction sites already have project sign boards that list the project name, owner, design team members, contractor, etc. The owners I work with prefer that rather than having a bunch of banners. But if you want to hang a banner on the fence, you probably need to get permission from the owner (because it's their property) and the contractor (because it's their fence).

I do put my company sign on projects. I think most engineers don't do it because they don't really know marketing or don't have time.

I've actually gotten one call this way after advertising on lots of sites, and the client ended up not using me. All my work is gotten through referrals, not marketing. I try to get into the mind of a client. If they're not satisfied with their current engineer, they will ask their developer or architect friends 100% of the time, not search online or remember that one sign they saw on a project. Same goes for GC's and architects. But like you said, it doesn't hurt. Maybe I'll get one client from this in the future, and that will pay for all this printing and hanging up time.
