Fellows...forgive the double thread. I started a different thread with the wrong spelling of dobie. Are their any fellows out there that know of standards for construction and/or performance of dobie blocks. Thank you.

No standards that I am aware of. We specify them to be concrete bricks (of the typical face brick size). Sometimes contractors like to use steel or epoxy coated chairs instead of blocks which is ok. Other contractors like to use clay bricks or whatever they have laying around the site to support rebar.....both are no good.

I figured this would have more action. Here's the manufacturer I assume we're getting. They're 4000 psi and some specific shapes.

CRSI RB4.1 provides the standard types of precast concrete bar supports and typical dimensions. But I believe that MotorCity is correct that there are no U.S. standards for the construction or performance criteria. Both the CRSI Reinforcing Bar Detailing guide and the ACI 315 Details and Detailing of Concrete Reinforcement (withdrawn) say to review the project specifications for information such as compressive strength.

Not sure what you need to achieve, but here's some extracts from the Australian standard AS 2425 for reference, in case useful. It uses US codes for testing requirements.
