Does anyone know about the mercathode system

I am currently working at a marina and have been doing
many types of electrical work.I have run into a new set of challenges with marine electrics.I am curious about the Mercathode system and how it operates.Does anyone know

Are you referring to sacrificial anodes applied to boats (ships) to prevent corrosion?

No the Mercathode system was developed by Mercury and
is in addition to Zincs or saccraficial anodes.When a
boat is equiped with this system and it is not connected properly apparently it causes even more damage to an
outdrive even with zincs.
