Perhaps someone here can help ease my stress a bit. Being an electron herder I have just enough concrete knowledge to be dangerous. We have a new gunite pool which I believe was shot a bit thin in areas, specifically near the bottom corners at the shallow end. I had an engineer look it over and he said we should have no problems even if the shell were a bit thin. He suggested not drilling because this would simply create a place for a crack to start. The shell is about a 3 month s old and is about to receive the plaster coat. I noticed that the area I am concerned about has a checkered pattern on the surface when the concrete is wet. This pattern extends about one foot on either side of the bottom corner of the pool. This is where the greatest stress would occur and where I am certain the shell is about 5" thick. Could this checker pattern indicate a stress problem, or is it possible that these could turn into cracks? Thanks. George
