Does Solidworks allow making a datum symbol without a triangle to anchor it? 1

Basically I just want the datum to be a box with the label inside, and attached by one of the box sides to a dimension extension line, part edge, or a geometric control box as shown in the attached picture. I took that picture from my GD&T Fundamentals book.

Follow ASEM Y14.5 (or ISO, whatever you use). Create the GD&T symbol, drag to attach to dim.

Are you creating a drawing in accordance with ANSI Y14.5-1982 or before?

Powerhound, thanks for the reply. We are not necessarily using Y14.5-1982, but for the minimal amount of GD&T we use, we prefer to keep the drawings conforming to the look of the original datum callout.

You just have to select the correct option 1982 or not and selected the edge to add your datum.
