I am not familiar with the fire codes and laws in Norway. This is an older hotel with no obvious renovations ever (built in 1960s??), but this just doesn't seem right, according to any fire codes or The Great Book of Common Sense. This is the door across the hall from our second floor room. I unlocked the door yesterday afternoon, but it was locked by 7 am today.

Looks rather odd, but many fire escapes are one way only to prevent unauthorised access.

Was there a handle on the inside?

The exit door handle should not require an unlock and then push down, but at least it was a manual action and wasn't key locked or chained.

The thing in Scandi countries is that all the doors open into the corridor in hotels (means of escape direction) so you need to walk down the middle of the corridor to avoid getting hit in the face as someone exits their room....

Interesting

A few guesses

It was legal when built?

Extra exit sign, for what should not be an exit?

Have not seen spiral commonly used as a means of exit.

This is truly access to equipments room areas???

Lock looks like it has been there for awhile!!

At least it is unlockable !!!!!!!!

I take it there are other stairs off the floor??? Are they spiral ???
