In WinXP and before, you could change the command line options for opening a file when you double click it.
In the file explorer under Tools>File Options>File Types>Advanced you could change command line switches.
I had this set up for NX as "C:\Program Files\UGS\NX 8.0\UGII\ugii.exe" -retrieve="%1"
I can't find anything like this in Win7.
When I double click a .prt file, all that happens is NX8 starts.
Is it possible to get it to open the file you click on when it starts?
Thank you for any help.

What you desire is the default according to me. When i doubleclick a ".prt" in Windows, it will either start NX and load the part, or if the session is running only load that part. ( NX8 on Win 7 64)

So the question is rather why your computer does different.

Tomas

the trick is:
open the windows registry :
expand: hkey_classes_root -> ugpartfile ->shell -> open -> command ->(right window) edit the path to your needs

Sorry Toost, no help. Didnt have the path in the register that uwam2ie showed. Phillpd, you are the winner. That worked. The original command line just had "1". I added the -retrieve= and it works great. Thanks
