Dear Experts,

Hope you are well. We have a double walled Ammonia Storage Tank at our site with below mentioned key specifications:

Material: A-516 Gr 60
Height: 16 meters
Inner Tank ID: 26 meters
Operating Temperature: -33oC
Capacity: 7,350 m3
Design Code: API 620
Commissioning Year: 2010

No internal inspection has bee conducted to date and as part of MI program, we intend to carry out its internal inspection by the end of this year. While European Fertilizer Manufacturers Association (EFMA) provides detailed guidelines for internal inspection interval determination and extent of internal inspection, we are concerned that internal inspection preparations may lead to oxygen ingress and/or warming affecting ammonia SCC.

Please share your expert opinion on how operators in North America and Europe are stewarding Ammonia Storage Tanks Mechanical Integrity Program and whether a strong onstream inspection & IOW programs can be used in-lieu of internal inspection to avoid facing Ammonia SCC related issues after equipment internal inspection.

Regards,
