A steam drum is supported by mud drum through two downcomer pipes. I would design the downcomer as a column under gravity load, and beam-column under gravity/seismic load. Is this correct? Did I miss something? What considerations should I take into account? As a collateral question, how to analyze the mud drum below? Please advice.
