I am trying to send a CAD file to a imaging company for printing. The service said to send a plt file. I was told to download a HP driver and from there I can create the .plt file.

I tried to download the files. It appeared to work, but it created 12 files. What should I see when I try to print - should I see the printer for the drivers I downloaded - HP 430?

Any help would be appreciated.

In AutoCAD you will need to create a printer setup using the new drivers. I will assume that the driver was specifically for AutoCAD and it created the drivers for AutoCAD to see. Using Plotter Manager, create a new printer with the "My Computer" method (I think it should appear this way for you). When you get to selecting the printer type, it should present you with HP as a choice, choose them and then the HP430 should be in the list, pick it. Continue through the prompts. Then try plotting to this printer and select plot to file. This is the basic scenario for doing this. May the force be with you. If it does not work, post your progress and we will help you through it.

Just print your drawing the same as you normally do but click on PRINT TO FILE before clicking on PLOT. This way you divert the plot to a file instead of the plotter. Remember to set all the fields as if you were actually plotting as the imaging company can't modify the plt file before it's sent to there plotter.

corvette63,

I use the HP750c driver. You can work with these plts in a lot of viewers and printers... Use borgunit's way for the installation.
