Hi all.

Is it possible to have the date field in the properties box on a drawing update to the present date automatically? At the moment I need to use properties manager each time if I want to update it.

Also, by default the author field gets filled with my login name to windows (i.e. a short lowercase username), is it not possible to have it be populated with my full name instead?

Thanks

I'm not sure how you have it set up, but you can use Property Text to pull a variety of info automatically including things like the 'modified' date or the 'last printed' date. Actually a whole lot of things you can do with it. Now to directly answer your question, using the Property Text property of 'accessed' should provide you with the current date since you accessed the file to open it...

On another note, you might try asking questions like this at the Siemens PLM Solid Edge Community site:

Dave - think long and hard about if you really want the date to auto update every time you open the document? We have some document formats (not SE drawings) that do that and it can cause problems/be misleading.

Posting guidelines faq731-376 (probably not aimed specifically at you)
What is Engineering anyway: faq1088-1484

Thanks for the responses. The "modified" date would be ideal I think, I'll have to have a try tomorrow though.

I'm not worried about the dates auto updating since I normally save a pdf of the drawing if I'm happy which is permanent.
