Hello!

I have few ribs with uniform thickness 1.5 mm in my model. (the shape of rib is similar to U shape except there is a flat edge at the bottom with end corner)
Now, I would like to apply draft but not getting success.
I tried to create a sketch with draft angle & did work but there is 35 mm radius at the 2 corner of rib. Due to 35 mm radius, I ‘m loosing the thickness from 1.5 mm at the 35 mm radius & hence, facing difficulty to apply edge fillet on the side of rib?

Any suggestion?

Please refer to the help documentation. This is a basic task covered in very good detail. I'm sure that if you take the time, your question will be thoroughly resolved.

Can you be little bit more precise, like you wanted me go through draft/edge fillet on v5 or something else?

Sorry, I thought that your question could be answered based on this statement. I would still refer you to the docs, because what you are describing sounds like a methodology problem.

Are you trying to apply the draft BEFORE the fillets?

First apply the draft & then apply fillet,

That's always true for plastic part, Isn't it?

(1) I'm trying to solve the mystery why I'm loosing the thickness at the corner ? (I used the draft version of sketch, extruded & then applied 35 mm radius at 2 corner & lost the thickness. Due to lost in thickness (less than 1.5 mm)so couldn't apply the fillet 0.75 mm at both side of rib )

(2)Due to the U shape of rib, I couldn’t apply draft after simple non drafted version of sketch, extrude,& applied draft but didn't get success to apply appropriate draft.

(Definitely, it its simple solid box than there is no issue to apply draft)

If you want the whole edge to be rounded can't you use a face to face fillet instead of two edge fillets?

Or maybe I'm not understanding the problem correctly.

Oh - if you don't want to loose thickness at the end of your ribs, you need to define that as your neutral plane in the draft command.

Yes, but experience in online forums teaches us that we never assume the person asking the question is utilizing the correct method. [smile]

It would really help if you could post a screen shot. Your question would probably get answered almost instantly if you could do that...
