Quick question, what is the code for putting a circle around a single number, or a square/rectangle around a word or series of numbers, in a note in a cell in NX 7.0?

Aw Nertz - hoping for an "OOTB" alternative to custom symbols or a hack using existing GD&T/Drafting.

Well I did a little hacking around myself and discovered this solution; to get a note inside a box, enter the following character string into the NX text editor...

<+>1234<+><&90>

...where the 1234 represents your desired text.

Thanks John - when I get back into the software tomorrow, I will give it a shot. Over and above the coding - is there a specific course offered by Siemens for "advanced drafting techniques" (i.e. notation tricks and tips)?

I haven't looked at the courseware material in years, but I suspect not. For stuff like that, forums and message boards are your best bet. Also, you pick-up a lot of 'tips & tricks' by attending either local or national/international user meetings, like the Siemens PLM Connection in Las Vegas next week.

Been trying to get to the Chicago User Group Meetings, but Vegas? Not likely. Regardless, thanks for the info.

There is a partial list of the control characters in the NX documentation.

For NX 7.5 the topics to follow are: Help Library -> Design -> Drafting -> Drafting User Interface -> Use control characters and blockfont characters to generate symbols

I would suggest to use this list as a starting point, then go into drafting and use the Annotation Editor to append to this list and have one of your own, as this one is missing a couple or maybe more.
