Drafting: Identify Updated Dimensions or Prevent Automatic Update?

Can anyone think of a way to identify which specific dimensions update when a drawing sheet or view is updated?

We've recently had issues where a change to a feature impacts other features that turn out to be dependent on that feature. It is impossible to determine what other features might have been affected without reviewing every dimension in the drawing. We have some parts which have 50+ sheet drawings so it is not very practical to check all of the dimensions one by one. We are dealing with multi-stage machining models where each machining operation is modeled as a separate part and linked to the previous stage via wave-link.

What we'd like to have happen is to have the dimensions that need updating after a model change turn a color to indicate they are out-of-date. Then we could review and manually update while understanding if the change is correct or not.

I know views and sheets can be manually updated, but can dimensions be manually updated?
