Drafting Templet import Auto-CAD 1

I am using NX6 Version,
I have a drawing templet in Auto-CAD with some logo & fixed text, which i want to use in NX.
Also I want to add some NX variables in my imported title block, which i can change accordingly.

I have tried to import DXF, but with that i am getting the file in 3D.

Any help please.

If you need to get the entities (lines, arcs, etc) from 3D model space to the drafting sheet here is how:

[li]Switch to drafting and add a base view, pick the view that is looking directly at your titleblock (ie probably not a side view).[/li]
[li]Perform a view dependent edit, choose all of your title block entities and convert dependency from model to view.[/li]
[li]Expand the view (View -> Operation -> Expand).[/li]
[li]Select all the titleblock entities and then cut them (Edit -> Cut or CTRL-X).[/li]
[li]Unexpand the view.[/li]
[li]Edit -> Paste or CTRL-V, the entities will show up on the drawing sheet.[/li]
[li]Delete the view, it is no longer needed.[/li]

... or you can create a pattern of the geometry that you do not want changed at the drawing level (the type of geometry that would be on pre-printed drawing sheets back in the board days). Make sute that the geometry is all in the absolute x-y plane with the lower left corner at 0,0,0. Then to save, go File -> Options -> Save Options and in the Save Pattern Data box, make sure that Pattern Data Only in checked. Save the part. You can now bring the format into a drawing (Format -> Pattern -> Retrieve Pattern. This method is slowly becoming obsolete as custom symbols are gradually gaining popularity, but after so many years doing it this way, I have yet to adapt.;-)

You can create seed files which contain the format pattern (or custom symbol) as well as any text you want to automate (through File -> Properties -> Attributes or by using drawing sheet attribute control strings).

Morning, Cowski,

I've got a similar situation to the OP and your instructions seem useful but I'm getting stuck on step 2. I've got visible curves in the Drafting view but when I try to convert the dependency I can't select them. There's no selection filter set, so what am I missing?

I'm sure it'll be ridiculously simple to solve so thanks in advance!

It works best when all the entities are in the XY plane and the lower left corner of the title block is at (or close to) (0,0).
