Hello,

Is there anyone here that ever had this problem: If I startup SW, open a part, g into a sketch i can then click on a dimension and drag it to another position. But from then in this sw-session I am not able to drag anything to another positions. not dims, not lines.... instead I will be pulling a nice selection-box.

Anyone knows the fix???

Grtz, Bouke

Try this: Tools - Options - under system options, on the general page, uncheck single command per click.

why?? I dont wanna be in a command, and even if I would be in a command it wouldn't matter. I just can't drag anything to anywhere. I even can't drag drawing views and sketch-lines....

Have you read the help on what that option does Bouke?

[ul]
[li]Single command per pick - Specifies that sketch and dimension tools clear after each use. (Double-clicking a tool causes it to remain selected for additional use.)[/li]
[/ul]

Even when you drag a Dimension that is a command.

Have you tried clicking "Esc" key? Ctrl-Q?

What if you close SW and reopen it does it work fine then till you do it again?

Yup, does it all over again. I don't understand it and it makes it impossile to make any drawings. It started I think when I aplied sp4 but i don't have the time atm to reinstall the sp. To annoying, I can move 1 dim in a session and after that I can do anything except moving anything... i've tried all the esc-CtrlQ stuff. even cleaned out the temp files (all of them...) reapplied the settings in the registry... But I don't seem to find a fix.

It sounds graphics card related. What type of card do you have and are you using the best available drivers for it, based on your version of SW and OS?

Try turning your Software OpenGL option on.
Tools\Options\System Options\Performance - You can't have ANY files open in SW to turn this option on. If that fixes the problem. It's either your video card or your Drivers.

Also try this faq559-507 - It will not take long for you to try and you can always go back if you follow that FAQ.

Bouke,
Maybe I didn't read corrcetly, but did you fix the setting that Aamoroso suggested? If so, try doing a "repair" of SolidWorks (need original disc).

About the registry thing, already tried that. Well if you think it could be graphic-card related,I've tried running with software openGL but didn't fix it. I have a quadro fx500 that has been running perfectly on my system since Jan. Only change i've made is the new service pack. hmm, I think this isn't working, i'll try an complete reinstall of sw toninght.

oh, missed 1 respond, yes If have tried to change that setting, didn't and I still don't understand why that setting would make any difference. If I place a dimension normally I would be able to drag it to another position in or not in the dimension command.

You may want to try a repair first before a complete reinstall. Up to you.

What version of drivers are you running then? You should be running 53.03. To check your Drivers

1) Start\Run
2) Type: dxdiag
3) Click OK
4) If it askes (message) just Click "Yes"
5) Click the display tab
6) Check out the version on the upper right box listed under "Version" 6.14.0010.5303 In Bold is the number your looking for.

Also check your service pack

But I have had this behavior on another system of mine with yet a different video card / driver... it would not allow me to pick things or drag them.. but if I rotated my view a bit all of a sudden it would. It turned out to be driver related.
