Dear All,

Is any one aware or familiar of means for increasing capacity of existing gas lines by chemical addition in similar fashion to drag reducing agents used in liquid lines. Are there any possible technologies for the same purpose?

Regards,

DRA for gas lines has been the "Holy Grail" for chemical companies for decades.

There is no chemical additive I am aware of similar to liquid pipelines DRA.

Internal flow coating ( i.e. you don't have it at the welds), is the only known method to me that increases flow compared to an uncoated pipe for the same DP.

Or compress it more or cool it more as it comes out the compressor station. I once got ~8% more flow for the same pressure by making them turn on all the air coolers flat out instead of maintaining a 50C temp limit. Had a bit of an undesired impact in that the gas arrived very cold after a bit of J-T effect as it went down the line, but hey, more gas is more gas.

If you find anything that works then invest it in quickly. And let us all know. [2thumbsup]

Have come across drag reducer chemicals for crude oil service only, not for gas.
