Dragging a part in an assy causes wrong parts to move ???

I have an assembly with a number of linkage parts. Something strange is now happening. If I select a part in the assembly (and it highlights to show it is selected), when I drag it it doesn't move. However, parts at the other end of the assembly do!

How does that happen? I have tried rebooting and it's still the same.

Thanks for the reply Dan. No, the move command made no difference. I gave up and deleted all the mates and re-did them. Works ok now.

You may have created an incorrect mate ... or SW decided it knew better than you and changed one or more of them for you.

The thing is that the highlighted part I tried to drag - didn't. Something else about 2 feet away did instead.

I couldn't find any mates that tied the parts together. Spooky!

If every part except for the part you're trying to move is 'fixed' or completely restrained, the part you are moving will solely move.

Sometimes I 'temporarily' fix a part in order to get it not to move.

Aye, CBL has the answer for you. You have a borderline overdefining mate somewhere in your assembly. Look to change key mates to easier to solve mates. You'd be very suprised how much easier an assembly can be to work on after you find those trouble mates.
