Drawing a mesh? 1

I need to draw a Kayak in 3D. I always draw in 3D, but have never had to use the Mesh function. I've played around w/ it, but can't grasp it.

I know this is a pretty broad question, but are there any tips anyone can give to maybe help me at least grasp the concept, and maybe even understand how to draw a controlled mesh? Any input is greatly appreciated.

To draw kayak in Polygon Mesh use RULESURF (Draw -> Surfaces -> Ruled Surfaces) and select two defining curves.
